2007 World Police & Fire Games

See the world's finest...

The 2007 World Police & Fire Games is going to be one of the biggest events on SA’s calendar this year. From 16 – 25 March, Adelaide will have the honor of hosting this spectacular international sporting event and our wonderful city is set to put on an unforgettable show. Spectators will have the opportunity to see over 8,000 international firefighters, law enforcement, customs and corrections officers compete in 79 sports across 50 venues over 10 days.

The Games are one of the world’s largest mass participation sporting events, eclipsing the Commonwealth Games in terms of numbers of competitors and number of sports. The 2007 World Police & Fire Games will include the traditional sports of the Olympic and Commonwealth Games such as Swimming, Track & Field, Cycling and Hockey, as well as sports that are specifically designed to challenge the agencies’ professional skills like the Ultimate Firefighter, the Stair Race and the Pistol – Police Combat. The program also includes more unique events such as the Toughest Competitor Alive and Wrist Wrestling.

All sporting events are FREE for the public but the must see sports include the Tug-of-War, Muster – Bucket Brigade and Hose Cart, Dragon Boat Racing, Triathlon, Ice Hockey, Beach Volleyball and the finals of the Soccer and Rugby 7s.

The Social Hub of the Games – Coopers Alehouse on the Torrens

You also have a chance to mingle with competitors at the Coopers Alehouse on the Torrens – Games Village (adjacent to Games Centre, Adelaide Convention Centre). Full of live entertainment and nightly celebrations the Coopers Alehouse on the Torrens will be the Games party centre. The general public can enter for a small cost of $5.00 after 9pm (except for Friday 16 March where public entry will be from 10pm).

There’s plenty of fun and action around the city and regions to make the 2007 World Police & Fire Games experience one to remember. Here’s just a snapshot of some of the great program highlights or to view the full program of sports, click here.
